WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

LOGISTICS SALES EXECUTIVES

The Account Executive position is vital to our operations. It combines the responsibility to identify and develop new accounts and build relationships with contacts at the accounts. The expectation is to first and foremost continue our standard of excellent customer service; and secondly, to increase the magnitude of new accounts per agreed-upon annual goals. Additionally, the Account Executive is expected to solicit new business predominantly via warm/cold calls as well as other acquisition tactics. The development of new business is an essential function of this role and will come with agreed annual goals as well.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate with clients regarding all ranges of information: pricing, market intelligence, truckload requests and status, spot quote solutions, and additional service offerings. Net/Net: excellent customer service.
  • Communicate with all internal support individuals: carrier relations, accounting, management, TMS service providers, etc.
  • Prospect and contact potential customers with the goal of achieving agreed-upon acquisition and sales targets.
  • Maintain customer records and history of communication in Salesforce.
  • Work cohesively with the team to understand and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Create relationships that yield repeat business to meet or exceed margin goals.
  • Actively present solutions to issues as they arise. Develop a plan of action independently prior to requesting feedback from your direct supervisor. Actively work on preventative measures for those issues for future business.
  • Utilize available resources to solicit new business.
  • Ability to be flexible and think on your feet to help secure new business leads and contacts.
  • Other various Ad Hoc duties/items as requested by your supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Logistics/Supply Chain, or related fields
  • Work experience will be considered in lieu of an educational requirement.
  • 2+ years of freight brokerage selling and account management experience
  • Availability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • This is a full-time, 40-hour, in-office position.

ACCOUNT MANAGERS

As an Account Manager at The ROOTS Logistics, you will serve as a primary contact for clients. This individual is responsible for new business development and growth with existing clients while helping move their freight in the most cost-efficient way possible. The Account Manager will perform cold/warm calls to expand existing business and/or solicit new business. The Account Manager will also provide excellent and consistent client service by working closely with the carrier relations team to ensure that our client and company expectations are achieved.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Help to develop new business strategies, conduct market analysis, and develop new and improved methods for selling The ROOTS Logistics services.
  • Deliver operational excellence to clients, carriers, shippers, and consignees.
  • Independently identify, generate, and close new sales opportunities through inside sales.
  • Present and sell company products and services to new and existing clients.
  • Prospect and contact prospects, potential clients, and existing clients (via phone, email, and other media) to reach agreed-upon sales targets.
  • Provide input to management to respond to changing market conditions, improve internal efficiency, and maximize results.
  • The ability to multi-task, make swift changes, and handle multiple demands with a positive attitude is essential.
  • Perform maintenance of accounts to establish standards and ensure clients are pleased with the operation.
  • Offer pricing guidance and market intelligence to clients, internal Carrier Relations colleagues, and fellow Account Managers.
  • Communicate with clients regarding truckload requests, spot quote solutions, freight quotations, and project needs.
  • Support and assist in the attainment of company goals and objectives aligned with The ROOTS Logistics Sales Strategy.
  • Prepare client quotations and presentation of proposals.
  • Maintain client records and prepare and send sales reports as per company guidelines.
  • Act as point-of-contact for client issues, including billing, damage claims, and collections; partner with all personnel to ensure issues are completely resolved.
  • Work with clients on pending accounts receivable issues with support from the billing and accounts receivable teams.
  • Ability to persuade, influence, and negotiate with clients, Carrier Representatives, and carriers.

CARRIER REPRESENTATIVES

At The ROOTS Logistics, our Carrier Representative serves as the primary contact for carrier relations. This individual’s goal is to source capacity solutions for existing business and new business targets. The purpose of this position is to create relationships that yield repeat business. The Carrier Representative will work closely with the Account Managers and is responsible for minimizing service failures and carrier falloffs. The Carrier Representative is also responsible for soliciting carriers to cover all active, available loads for that day/week/month tasked by their direct supervisor while ensuring on-time delivery to meet ROOTS client needs.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Search for patterns in our business and learn the preferences and capabilities of our carriers.
  • Qualify new and existing carriers prior to onboarding and dispatching.
  • Establish and source carrier lane history in an attempt to source repeat capacity.
  • Reaching out to our core carriers will always be our first selection for coverage.
  • Aggressively and competitively make outbound calls and answer inbound calls to contract trucks to cover our available freight. The expected call volume should exceed over 50 calls per day.
  • Utilize available resources to source capacity (TS, DAT, Highway, Carrier411).
  • Ability to be flexible and think on your feet to help secure trucks for current and upcoming freight opportunities.
  • Ensure a high level of service by enthusiastically monitoring, tracking, and tracing all active shipments you have covered.
  • Responsible for negotiating with carriers to consistently get the best rate possible while still covering all available freight and putting ROOTS in the best light possible.
  • Understand ROOTS opportunities and align pricing with current market conditions to help increase net revenue with new and existing business.
  • Assess and analyze previous week, month, quarter, and year market data trends to facilitate the ability to forecast future industry pricing and assist with RFPs.
  • Identify and develop strategic carrier relationships by utilizing internal and external resources to grow a carrier portfolio. 
  • Continuously source new carriers that will fit The ROOTS current and future business demands.
  • Actively pursue and establish dedicated and repeat capacity solutions.
  • Develop relationships with day-to-day contacts to identify where your carrier base will have available trucks throughout the week.
  • Seek out, source, understand, and engage with specific carrier targets to meet The ROOTS specific client needs with the guidance of a direct supervisor.
